Hi everyone I am a very happy horse this week! Spring has finally arrived, the sun is out and my human mum has finally let me back out in the field to some sweet green grass! 😁🌞
Its amazing how good it can make you feel just getting out in the sunshine....for some people this is not so easy.
People with mental health difficulties can be in a dark place experiencing emotional and psychological pain. I have had the very great privilege of being able to help people suffering with mental health issues.
As a therapy horse I offer a sense of calm and peace for those who are in distress, individuals who are afraid to talk to people in their own life can talk to me without fear. I am a great listener and will never judge or repeat what I am told. I accept everyone for who they are and don't ask for anything in return.
I help people to explore and reflect on their feelings and emotions, through this process I assist them to find solutions to the challenges they face from within themselves.
This part of my job is called Equine Assisted Learning (EAL). EAL promotes emotional growth, self awareness and confidence by allowing individuals to learn about their own feelings, triggers and reactions.
The EAL activities that I do with people aim to bring meaning to the persons life through open discussion about their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours, this helps the individual to recognise their own responses to difficulties in their life and begin to make positive and meaningful changes.
I love my job and if any of you feel that I can help you with difficulties you are experiencing then please get in touch.
